I think we all do this to some degree and we have a tendency to always focus on the problems and not the success. We do a monthly internal review and we always talk about what went well AND what we need to improve on. It is a balance and you have to "bask" in the success occasionally :) Thanks for the comment Tamara.
Yes, you need to do this as i remember when the business was working really well with great financials and at a quarterly review we almost skimmed over the things that had gone well (as there was nothing for the outside advisors to add) and then we got challenged on a lot of smaller stuff that normally wouldn't have been discussed if we hadn't done well on the financials, so it was a deflating meeting, but our advisors were coming from a place of deep caring for the business and wanting to keep it all improving, so yes lets celebrate the successes :-)
I like the idea of acknowledging three successes. Often times, I skip over the wins and go right into the next problem to solve.
Just taking a moment to say, “oh we did that!” Is encouraging for the whole team. Makes us all feel better about the work we’re doing.
